Megan: Wife, Daughter, Mother, Sister, Duchess, Princess, human being.

Yesterday was one of my favourite days of the year, #internationalwomensday and I love it, I love the positivity, the smiles, the joy, the realisations that women have on this day about how well they are doing, what they are achieving and how empowered they are. I see it as a testament to all the women who have walked this earth before us.

How quick the energy of the day changed, a day that went from celebrating womanhood, to an evening of hate. From both women and men I add. I did not watch it live, as I was working, but watching the interview and listening to the conversation between Oprah and Megan, today has left me deep in thought.

The words spoken feel honest, her face reveals her moments of feeling loved and feeling lost in the dynamics of what is a powerful family. I cannot help but watch her through the eyes of not just a Therapist, but a Mum. I see a woman who has walked a path from a childhood family filled with dysfunction, lies and loneliness, to another family filled with all of the same. Whatever your views of her as a royal bride, or the royal family themselves are, if you knock the crowns, the titles off their heads, both Megan and Harry, are just two people in love, who are the product of broken families, childhood trauma, secrets, deception, lies and unrealistic expectations of this world and on their lives within them.

Little girls dream of fairy weddings, but ask yourself, if your daughter came home and announced she was marrying the Prince, would you not feel a nervousness for her future life, under that initial joy?
