When The Ego Takes Over!
There has been a lot of conversations in my coaching world lately about the ego and how it can get in the way of our highest path.
So when I saw this article today in the Mirror about how an Astrologer is being seen as a fake because of the guidance he was giving out today on Good Morning Britain, I shake my head in shame.
Shame for the industry!
So why would someone let their ego step in? Do they let it or are they in fact unware?
The ego can panic. It can panic when you are putting yourself into a vulnerable position, such as being seen, live on air by millions of viewers, because it does not want to risk appearing foolish and not in control. The ego is the controller and when we do anything that could disturb the mental state of being in control, it gets us to do crazy things instead.
Who knows?! Perhaps Hagan Fox got overwhelmed with nerves, because he suddenly had an attack of imposter syndrome, maybe it ‘went to his head’ and he decided to put on a show. Truth is we will never know, only Hagan himself has the answer.
One thing I do know, is that we are all capable of having these moments. Whether we are an accountant at a networking event, a singer, an actress or a psychic. When we feel put on the spot or suddenly fear we are inadequate. Imposter syndrome can hit at any time and no matter how successful you are, whenever your path requires you to either step out of your comfort zone or step up a level, there is a risk of it coming in…
